K13.8 MILLION APPROVED FOR 2026 SECONDARY BOARDING SCHOOL AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT BURSARIES IN KALOMO

The Southern Provincial Local Government Office approved K13.8 million for the 2026 Secondary Boarding School and Skills Development Bursary Programme in Dundumwezi and Kalomo Central constituencies, with each constituency allocated a total of K6,898,104.77, delivering a major boost to education access and youth empowerment in Kalomo District.
A total of 904 Secondary Boarding School and Youth Skills Development Bursaries have been approved to benefit under the programme, with 438 beneficiaries from Dundumwezi Constituency and 466 from Kalomo Central Constituency. The initiative reinforces Government’s commitment to ensuring that no learner is left behind as the country advances its free education agenda.
In Dundumwezi Constituency, the bursary support covers 98 beneficiaries under skills development programmes and 340 secondary boarding school learners. Meanwhile, Kalomo Central Constituency will support 57 skills development beneficiaries and 409 secondary boarding school learners, ensuring a balanced focus on both academic education and practical skills training.
The approved funds will also support 1,265 progressive secondary boarding school pupils and 73 students enrolled in skills development programmes, reflecting a strong investment in the future of learners and young people across the two constituencies.
Through this allocation, Kalomo District continues to contribute to the aspirations of the Government by fostering skills development and strengthening the implementation of free education.
